Every event, on the curve

Each sag, swell or interruption is plotted by magnitude and duration on a logarithmic ITIC chart, then classified into a region: inside, outside ride-through, or prohibited. Related disturbances are grouped into incidents so a single fault does not show up as a dozen alarms.

Gold watches polled voltages against commissioned thresholds, so even a basic meter produces sag and swell records. Silver and Gold both track voltage and current THD; Gold adds TDD, K-factor and crest factor from meters that report them, and Silver records voltage THD events with a timeline so a pattern from a new drive shows up within days.

Power quality questions

What is the ITIC curve and why does MeterSight use it?

The ITIC (formerly CBEMA) curve is an industry reference that describes the voltage magnitude and duration most information technology equipment is expected to ride through. MeterSight plots each voltage event against the envelope and classifies it as inside, outside ride-through, or prohibited. ITIC is a reference for discussion, not an equipment compliance certification.

What is COMTRADE?

COMTRADE (IEEE C37.111) is the standard file format for recorded waveforms from power meters and relays. MeterSight Gold retrieves COMTRADE records automatically from Schneider PM8000 and ION9000 meters and opens them in a viewer with cursor measurements, cycle RMS trends, phasors and sequence components.

Can Silver do power quality?

Silver includes harmonic snapshot and spectrum, voltage THD events with a timeline, and a power quality snapshot. Live sag and swell detection, ITIC classification and the COMTRADE viewer are Gold capabilities.

Does MeterSight detect events itself, or rely on the meter?

Both. Gold's live event detection watches polled voltages against commissioned thresholds with confirmation times and hysteresis, producing sag and swell records even from meters without onboard event logs. Meters with onboard logs, like PM8000 and ION9000, contribute their own events and waveforms.
