Energy accounting

Cumulative kWh, tracked the way the utility bills you

Bronze polls each meter's cumulative energy registers and stores boundary readings in PostgreSQL. Set your billing-cycle start day (1 to 31, with short months handled correctly and DST-aware in your site time zone) and Bronze builds cycle totals that line up with the invoice.

Operations

Small footprint, serious plumbing

Bronze is deliberately simple on screen and deliberately robust underneath.

Isolated PostgreSQL

Bronze installs its own PostgreSQL 18 instance on a dedicated port, separate from anything else on the machine, or connects to a PostgreSQL you already manage.

Verified backups

Manual and weekly backups use pg_dump and are verified with pg_restore before they are reported as good. Every update takes a verified backup first.

Signed self-update

Updates are downloaded over HTTPS, verified by signed manifest and SHA-256, staged by a scheduled task, and rolled back automatically if the new service fails its health check.

Local accounts

Admin and user roles with a 15-character passphrase policy, rate-limited sign-in and server-side sessions. No directory dependency.

Light and dark appearance

Per-browser theme preference. Light by default for control rooms with bright lighting; dark for the rest of us.

Offline licensing

Activate online, or export a machine ID and import a signed license file for sites with no internet at all.

FAQ

MeterSight Bronze questions

Is Bronze enough for tenant sub-metering?
For most sub-metering and cost-allocation needs, yes. Bronze tracks cumulative kWh per meter and per breaker, applies your blended rate, and produces billing-cycle reports you can export to PDF or CSV. It does not generate invoices.
Can Bronze poll faster than once a minute?
Bronze reads cumulative energy registers on the interval you choose in seconds. Because it stores energy boundaries rather than every electrical value, it is comfortable with modest hardware.
Which meters does Bronze support?
Any Modbus TCP meter that exposes cumulative energy registers. The bundled presets include Schneider PM8000, ION9000 and PM5500, Socomec DIRIS A-200, MCM-16 and MCM-48, and Powerside PQube 3.
